Prevent Fraud By Using My Health Care Tracker For Medicare Beneficiaries

A new tool has been developed to assist senior citizens enrolled in Medicare by tracking what transpires during their visits to the doctor. Additionally, it can aid in detecting and preventing fraud involving Medicare.

Senior Medicare Patrol offers its clients a program called My Health Care Tracker. This program guides beneficiaries by comparing the healthcare services, tests, and medical equipment items they get to what was invoiced for those same things on their Medicare bills.

Medicare Fraud

According to Seth Boffeli, an adviser for the AARP Fraud Watch Network, Medicare fraud may be perpetrated not just against the government but also against elderly citizens who are enrolled in the programs. He said that playing the role of one’s private investigator was the most effective approach to avoid falling victim to cons.

People are paying closer attention to identifying a significant portion of Medicare waste, fraud, and abuse. They receive that statement, examine it, and then exclaim, “Hey, wait. I did not get this medication and did not go through with this therapy.” And they can mark that as suspicious.

Registered Medicare Patients

At the end of 2021, almost 652,000 people living in Arkansas alone were registered in Medicare, representing more than 21% of the state’s total population.

By calling the Senior Medicare Patrol at 866-726-2916, patients can place an order for My Health Care Tracker in either Spanish or English.

Boffeli stated that early identification of fraudulent activity is crucial as it helps individuals save money and may also have implications for access to treatment in the future. He further said that Medicare users might protect themselves from fraud by taking a few simple precautions.

Medicare Information

When you give out your Medicare information or consent to a test or a device that Medicare will pay for, you must do so in consultation with your doctor because handing out your Medicare information might have severe consequences for your health.

The AARP Fraud Watch Network provides advice sheets on more than 70 types of scams targeting older persons. My Health Care Tracker also provides details on state health insurance programs. These programs offer Medicare-eligible individuals, their families, and carers local insurance advice and assistance.

My Health Care Tracker is an anti-fraud tool made freely available to beneficiaries by the SMP program. Beneficiaries can utilize the trackers to assist avoid, detecting, and reporting suspected instances of fraud, mistakes, or misuse related to Medicare. The last name for these publications was the Personal Health Care Journals.
